Innovation and Automation Lead - General Motors South America
General Motors South America is seeking an experienced Innovation and Automation Lead to join their team in São José dos Campos. This role is pivotal in driving financial gains, productivity, safety, and quality through innovative automation projects across all company shops.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and technically support the in-house Automation team, fostering engagement and continuous development.
- Drive innovation and automation projects focused on financial gains, productivity, safety, and quality.
- Manage projects from ideation to implementation on the factory floor, coordinating schedules, resources, risks, and deliverables.
- Ensure adherence to project management best practices (scope, time, cost, risk, communication, stakeholders).
- Connect manufacturing needs with internal and external technological solutions (suppliers, startups, universities).
- Prepare and deliver structured presentations to various hierarchical levels, communicating status, results, and next steps.
- Be a key player in driving the innovation culture within the São José dos Campos complex.
- Collaborate effectively in a team environment, influencing different areas and managing multiple stakeholders.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Completed higher education in Engineering or related fields.
- Experience with innovation and/or industrial automation projects in a manufacturing environment.
- Practical knowledge of project management (planning, scheduling, risk management, follow-up).
- Advanced English proficiency (conversational, presentations, technical reading).
- In-depth knowledge of industrial automation (PLCs, robots, sensors, motors, frequency inverters) with hands-on experience installing new equipment.
- Availability for on-site work in São José dos Campos/SP.
- High level of technical and analytical skill for problem-solving across management levels.
- Flexibility to work different shifts, weekends, and holidays if needed.
- Availability for travel as required.
- Valid driver's license (CNH).
Desirable Requirements:
- Previous experience leading operational and/or technical teams (people management, feedback, development).
- Certification or further training in Project Management (e.g., PMBOK, Scrum, Lean Projects, Six Sigma).
- Experience in innovation teams, Industry 4.0, or digital transformation.
- Knowledge of data analysis tools (Advanced Excel, Power BI, or similar) for project metrics.
- Prior experience in Manufacturing Engineering or related areas is a plus.
- Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence.
