Space Force Tracking Systems Engineer at General Dynamics Mission Systems
General Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join the SDA GMI program as a key member of a cross-functional team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and deploying state-of-the-art ground operational systems, contributing significantly to the program's innovation and success.
Basic Qualifications
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field.
- Requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.
- Agile experience preferred.
Clearance Requirements
A Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Preferred Technical Background
Systems Engineering
- Proficiency in systems engineering, decomposing requirements into architecture, internal and external interfaces, and design behavior
- Experience with ground pre-planned or ad-hoc scheduling and situational awareness of satellites and payloads
- Experience with tracking IR payload or ground mission data transport, handling, and analysis
- Experience decomposing high-level space-ground systems design into ground software/systems design
Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Experience with MBSE methodologies and tools such as CAMEO or MagicDraw
Programming and Tools Skills
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, and MATLAB, including for software developer coordination, system analysis, prototype algorithm development, or modeling
Cloud Computing
- Knowledge of cloud technologies and their application in system design and deployment
Simulation and Modeling
- Background in simulation and modeling analysis with tools like STK, particularly in aerospace applications a plus
DevOps and Automation
- Understanding of DevOps principles and practices
- Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
