About the Role
The Senior Technical Writer and Documentation Specialist at General Dynamics Information Technology will support Federal Legacy Healthcare and Electronic Medical Record Systems. This remote role requires US residency and involves working closely with clinicians, developers, and federal staff to produce, update, and maintain technical documents and online help files.
Responsibilities
- Apply customer-specified formats for diverse documentation types.
- Convert outdated PDFs or Word documents into current formats.
- Create, review, edit, and maintain user and technical guides including installation, configuration, setup guides, release notes, security manuals, and online help.
- Ensure documents meet Section 508 Compliance standards.
- Collaborate with technical teams to integrate online help within software.
- Participate in special projects as required.
Requirements
- 5+ years of technical writing experience supporting Indian Health Service environments.
- Bachelor’s degree and Technical Writing Certificate from an accredited institution.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Word, Adobe RoboHelp, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Snagit.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Visio, MS Paint, SharePoint, Outlook and Azure DevOps.
- Experience with Federal Health IT systems including IHS RPMS and VA VistA.
- Ability to work on a remote/distributed team and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with MS Excel, Adobe PageMaker, HCL Notes, and FullShot.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and scrum practices.
- Proficiency in designing online procedures, job aids, policies, and quick reference cards.
