General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking an NHLBI BioData Catalyst Tester to support the National Institute of Health (NIH), National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI). This role is crucial for developing a new system designed to simplify how researchers find, access, and utilize heart, blood, lung, and sleep data. The Tester will ensure the functional and non-functional requirements of the system are rigorously validated.
This position requires a strong understanding of test automation and proficiency in Agile methodologies, enabling the team to create compelling software systems effectively.
Impact of an NHLBI BioData Catalyst Tester
- Working across the software lifecycle, with a particular focus on testing a new scientific application that searches for data within large datasets, including biological, genomic, and/or proteomic information.
- Collaborating closely with the team to achieve optimal system solutions.
- Specifying and executing tests to validate system behavior for both user interfaces (single-page web applications) and APIs.
- Creating automated tests to enhance efficiency and coverage.
- Engaging with other team members to align testing efforts with system requirements.
- Collaborating with other system owners and stakeholders to facilitate smooth inter-team cooperation.
- Working alongside team members to advance all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle, including Requirements, Design, Development, and Testing.
- Participating actively in Agile activities such as estimation, iterative planning, and retrospectives.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent education and experience).
- 7+ years of relevant experience in software testing.
- Proven experience testing complex software systems.
- Extensive experience with test automation.
- Demonstrated experience working effectively in an Agile software development environment.
- Experience utilizing Selenium-based test frameworks.
- Proficiency in using test specifications as a critical requirements tool.
Desired Skills and Abilities
- Prior experience with the NHLBI BioData Catalyst environment; an active NIH badge is considered a significant advantage.
