Job Overview

The HVAC Technician - Energy Systems - New England will perform field service maintenance and emergency repairs on telecommunication and data center HVAC equipment. Equipment includes Marvair and Bard wall mount units, Carrier, Trane, Goodman residential split systems, McLean outside cabinet units, and outside air economizer systems.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical components of HVAC systems.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance.
  • Respond to emergency service requests.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Candidates must be willing to work nights and weekends on a rotating on-call team. Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies and system controls along with the ability to troubleshoot and service commercial HVAC equipment under 10 tons is required. The role involves daily travel, professional communication, reading wiring schematics, diagnostic skills in refrigeration and electronic control circuits, and the ability to document field conditions accurately.

Minimum Qualifications

The role is structured across three levels:

  • HVAC Technician Level I: High school Diploma, 200 hours HVAC School, valid driver's license, DOT Medical Certificate, 150 Electrical Code hours, 4000 work hours, and valid EPA certification.
  • HVAC Technician Level II: High school Diploma, 200 hours HVAC School, 20 hours of Continuing Education Training, valid driver's license, DOT Medical Certificate, 150 Electrical Code hours, 4000 work hours, and valid EPA certification.
  • HVAC Technician Level III: High school Diploma, 200 hours HVAC School, 80 hours of Continuing Education Training and/or NATE Service (CHP-5) certification, valid driver's license, DOT Medical Certificate, 150 Electrical Code hours, 6000 work hours, and valid EPA certification.

Compensation and Additional Information

Generac is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role based in Marlborough, MA is $25.05 - $59.85 per hour, aligned with the candidate's experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Variable compensation including short and long-term incentives is also available.
