Job Description Summary

The Senior Civil Engineer at GE Vernova performs advanced structural analysis for major projects. The role involves modeling seismic and non-seismic finite element analyses for buildings in nuclear power plants using ANSYS APDL, ensuring adherence to design and regulatory requirements, and mentoring junior engineers while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and calculations for system design deliverables.
  • Conduct Soil-Structure-Interaction analysis for Safety-Related Structures.
  • Execute static and dynamic analyses using ANSYS APDL.
  • Analyze thermal stresses, hydrodynamic loads, and dynamic responses.
  • Develop engineering reports, licensing documentation, and design specifications.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, regulators, and international authorities.
  • Lead design evaluations and verifications for various BWR structural systems.
  • Ensure compliance with ASME, AISC, and ACI codes.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with at least 8 years of experience in the energy sector (preferably nuclear), 4+ years using ANSYS APDL and ACS SASSI, and 3+ years of nuclear power plant BOP/TI design/operation experience. Must have experience working with customers, regulators, and suppliers.

Eligibility Requirements

Preferred work location is GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy Headquarters in Wilmington, NC for the United States, with remote consideration for highly qualified US candidates. For Canada, work two days a week onsite in Markham, Ontario. Legal work authorization is required.

Desired Characteristics

A Master of Science in Engineering, professional engineering licensure, strategic and creative problem-solving skills, and experience with nuclear power plant construction and BOP/TI/HVAC systems are highly desired.
