Original Job Summary
Overview
The Lead Design Specialist – Plant Arrangement is responsible for leading a cross-functional engineering team to design and draft the layout of the BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Nuclear Island, Turbine Island and Balance of Plant systems in a 3D BIM Model.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead technical design for Mechanical Plant Systems and Components in Turbine Island and Balance of Plant.
- Create conceptual designs including layouts, arrangements, and construction drawings.
- Review plant layouts ensuring accessibility for maintenance and design compliance for HVAC & Fire Protection.
- Interface with Plant & System Design teams for 3D BIM Model requirements.
- Drive initiatives to embed preliminary design information to prevent future fabrication issues.
- Mentor colleagues on drafting, 3D parametric modeling and best practices.
Required Qualifications
Associates in engineering/design or 10+ years of relevant experience; 6 years using design tools such as Autodesk Inventor/AutoCAD/Vault.
Desired Skills
- Experience with Autodesk Plant 3D, Revit and Vault.
- Advanced mechanical and mechanism design expertise.
- Strong knowledge of ASME/ANSI drafting standards and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent communication skills and proven leadership in a matrixed, fast-paced environment.
Additional Details
Remote eligible with preferred work location at GEH Headquarters, Wilmington, NC. Must be able to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information. Competitive benefits and bonus opportunities included.
