About the Engineering Intern - Product Safety Role at GE Vernova

Join the Wind Engineering Product Safety team at GE Vernova as an Engineering Intern. This role is at the forefront of driving Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) initiatives across the Wind organization, offering a highly visible rotation with exposure to all aspects of our products and services.

As an Engineering Intern - Product Safety, you will participate in product safety risk assessments on critical systems and components, utilizing statistical analysis to develop standard assumptions and risk models. You will also analyze and evaluate field data to determine probability values for given risk reduction factors, contributing directly to engineering design improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in product safety risk assessments on critical systems/components using statistical analysis to develop standard assumptions risk models.
  • Analyze and evaluate field data to determine the probability values for given risk reduction factors.
  • Lead collaborative cross-functional team projects with exposure to all aspects of GE Vernova's wind products and services.
  • Quickly gain a high-level understanding of wind turbine systems and components.
  • Develop robust systems thinking skills.
  • Create connections with multiple functions across the Wind organization.
  • Access the most technical resources, including Chief Engineers and CTHs.

Internship Projects May Include

  • Creating a technical paper (eDRB article) to establish standard work and disposition for the Hub Crack Process Standardization.
  • Supporting Systems Risk Assessment activities (e.g., PHA, HAZOP, ASR).
  • Analyzing product safety data and trends (from sources like PCR, IBS, EBS, Actions) to influence engineering design improvements.
  • Developing a reporting tool (such as PowerBI) to standardize data analysis.
  • Engaging in other ad-hoc projects as identified.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Fluent in English.
  • Currently a university student.
  • Strong data analytics capabilities.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office, especially EXCEL.
  • Ability to listen, think critically, and ask pertinent questions to lead effective conversations with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong presentation skills, able to concisely describe problems and articulate outcomes.
  • Demonstrated problem-solver mindset.
  • Basic project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
