Overview
The Staff Software Engineer at GE HealthCare is responsible for programming software components and features. This role involves independent work and collaboration across teams, contributing to design discussions and software development practices.
Essential Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with the product owner and architect to understand requirements and detail user stories.
- Design software services or applications in line with architectural vision.
- Own technical design reviews and drive quality initiatives.
- Identify, plan, and mitigate technology risks timely.
- Act as scrum master for teams and mentor junior engineers.
- Engage in TDD/BDD practices and full stack development.
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or STEM, with at least 5 years of experience in software development. Proficiency in RedHat Enterprise Linux or SUSE, Python or Perl, Unix scripting is required. Experience with JAVA/C++ and web technologies such as Angular/Node JS and HTML is desired along with database skills and use of design patterns on Linux platforms. Familiarity with CI/CD, Agile environments, configuration management, defect tracking, and debugging tools is vital.
Desired Characteristics
The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, proficiency with development tools (Eclipse, Git, Jenkins, Maven), exposure to BDD/TDD, and a willingness to stay current with technological trends. Experience in OpenStack, deployment, configuration, and a background in the Healthcare domain are a plus.
