Job Description

Molecular Imaging Research Collaborator Scientist at GE HealthCare

We are seeking a dynamic, creative, and mission driven Molecular Imaging Scientist with deep expertise in Position Emission Tomography (PET) to serve as a key interface between GE HealthCare’s Molecular Imaging (MI) product teams and our network of strategic research partners. In this role, you will lead scientific engagement - shaping new innovations, designing feasibility studies, and generating evidence that advances next generation MI systems.

Ideal candidates are natural problem solvers, outstanding collaborators, strong communicators, and energized by working with customers, publishing impactful research, and translating ideas into meaningful technologies.

GE HealthCare is a leading global medical technology and digital solutions innovator. Our mission is to improve lives in the moments that matter. Unlock your ambition, turn ideas into world-changing realities, and join an organization where every voice makes a difference, and every difference builds a healthier world.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Combine knowledge of PET physics, reconstruction, engineering, and clinical needs to design and drive collaborative research projects aligned to short term, medium term, and long term business needs. This includes evidence generation on GEHC technology with a primary focus on PET but with opportunities to support SPECT as well.
  • Work with new technologies such as total body PET to support clinical implementation, adoption, and development of new clinical applications.
  • Partner across GEHC with scientists, engineers, and product leaders to develop prototypes, validate performance, and accelerate the transition of research tools into product‑ready solutions.
  • Lead original research that results in impactful publications, conference presentations, and patent applications—elevating GE HealthCare’s leadership in MI innovation.
  • Effectively communicate technical analyses and results to GEHC leadership, academic partners, and at scientific congresses and meetings.
  • Explore unmet clinical and technical needs with external collaborators and translate to define and grow research and development needs. Maintain and grow collaborator networks and drive insights into GEHC roadmap planning and marketing for appropriate utilization of results.
  • Use and further develop research tools to enable current and future research. Partner with engineering to handoff implementation and integration of research tools in product environment.
  • Seek out and pursue external grants and other partnerships to expand resources and impact.
  • Identify industry and academic trends in the areas of MI research and development relevant to GEHC.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. Degree in an engineering or science field such as Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Math, or Physics.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in medical imaging, image processing, or related application development.
  • Demonstrated experience in MI research and development.
  • Hands‑on experience applying machine learning and AI techniques in imaging, signal processing, and/or development.
  • Experience in developing with modern programming languages e.g. Python, R, Scala, Java, MATLAB etc.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a collaborative mindset and passion for working in cross‑functional teams.
  • A proactive, curious, and adaptable approach—comfortable taking on new scientific and technical challenges.
  • Strong track record and experience in publishing scientific articles, with key emphasis in MI physics and applications.
  • Excellent English language communication skills.
