As a Biomedical Technician II at GE HealthCare, you will be a crucial part of our on-site team within a hospital or healthcare system in the Cape Girardeau area. Your primary responsibilities will include responding to service calls, thoroughly evaluating and diagnosing biomedical equipment issues, and performing expert repairs and planned maintenance. Roles and Responsibilities

This Biomedical Technician II role is based on-site at our client's facility in the Cape Girardeau area, focusing on proactive and reactive service delivery.

  • Respond to service calls to evaluate, diagnose, and perform repair/planned maintenance (PM) on increasingly complex customer biomedical equipment, driving customer satisfaction through Service Excellence.
  • Evaluate complex customer biomedical equipment issues and implement appropriate, timely repairs.
  • Execute planned maintenance (PM), conduct safety and environmental inspections, and cultivate effective customer relationships.
  • Adhere to and guide others on relevant GE policies, procedures, and hospital protocols, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate seamlessly with teammates and colleagues to ensure integrated service.
  • Engage in proactive daily communications with customers to ensure issue resolution and proper follow-up, leading to sustained customer satisfaction.
  • Implement GE/customer facility contracts, directly supporting business goals and objectives.
  • Lead, instruct, and assist other technicians with both basic and complex repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of the local team to deliver efficient service across all assigned accounts.
  • Participate in on-call/pager responsibilities on a rotating schedule to address critical issues promptly.
  • Document all repair actions and submit comprehensive reports/summaries according to established schedules.
  • Ensure the proper care, calibration, and maintenance of spares, tools, and test equipment.
  • Manage and maintain an approved parts inventory efficiently.
  • Oversee vendors' service delivery processes in compliance with GE policies, as directed.
  • Continuously enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures for the safe and effective use of medical equipment through formal instruction and ongoing learning.
  • May assume the role of Site Leader, which involves directing fellow Biomedical Technicians, fostering a more interactive customer relationship, and potentially participating in Safety Committees or other account-related activities.
  • Meet all Health and Human Services, Environment Health and Safety requirements, and other applicable regulatory mandates.

Qualifications

To be considered for the Biomedical Technician II position, candidates should possess a strong blend of education and practical experience.

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field combined with 2+ years of experience servicing medical equipment; OR equivalent military education with 2+ years of experience servicing electrical or mechanical equipment; OR a High School Diploma/GED with 4+ years of experience servicing medical equipment.
  • Demonstrated analytical and communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical issues to customers in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Special Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted, and frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit, and stand for extended periods. The role also requires reaching at, above, and below shoulder level, neck flexibility, and good hand/finger dexterity. Specific vision abilities required include color, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Willingness to be available "after hours" or work a rotating On-Call schedule, including weekends, for critical issues and coverage as needed.

  • Successful applicants must pass GEHC's standard background check, including a post-offer drug test, and comply with all customer access policies during employment, such as immunization requirements and additional background checks.
