Role and Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain robust cyber security measures for avionics software systems.
- Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments for aviation software platforms.
- Develop and enforce security policies and procedures aligned with industry standards.
- Support execution of security testing including penetration testing and vulnerability assessments.
- Collaborate with teams to integrate security features into avionics systems.
- Stay current with emerging cyber threats and security technologies in the aviation industry.
- Ensure compliance with aviation security regulations such as DO-326A and ED-202A.
- Participate in security incident response and forensic analysis as necessary.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to improve project outcomes.
- Mentor teams through the software development lifecycle including DO-178C activities.
Technical Skills
- Experience with DO-326 and DO-331 applications.
- Strong secure coding practices and embedded system vulnerability knowledge.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C and C++.
- Understanding of cryptography, secure communication protocols, encryption, and authentication.
Required and Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
- 10+ years in embedded software development with 5+ years focused on software security and DO-178C programs.
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance required.
- Desired certifications include CISSP, CEH, or CSSLP; additional experience with ARINC 653, HSMs, TPMs and MBD is a plus.
