Lead Engineer - Materials Behavior at GE Aerospace

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Materials Behavior Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on understanding, analyzing, and improving the behavior of materials under various conditions to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and safety in aerospace applications. The ideal candidate will have expertise in material science, engineering principles, and advanced testing methodologies, with a strong commitment to continuous improvement and customer-driven solutions.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute, with guidance from senior engineering resources, the analysis, design, test, or integration required to define and support assigned components, assemblies, or systems that meet business standards and program/product requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance to personnel supporting the assigned project.
  • Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers.
  • Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives.
  • Share engineering information and promote open dialogue.
  • Document technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related Engineering/Science field from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 3 years Disciplinary Engineering and/or Science experience or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years Disciplinary Engineering and/or Science experience.

Desired Characteristics

  • Masters of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering position.
  • Experience in metallic or composite mechanics.
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • PC proficiency.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
