The Advanced Maintenance Technician at GE Aerospace in Asheville will maintain production and facility support equipment to required specifications. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and calibrating mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic control systems for CNC machine tools, manufacturing processes, test equipment, and facility/utility equipment. You will troubleshoot problems stemming from programming, tooling, machine set-up, instrumentation, calibration, and component failure. Active participation in a team-based environment, problem-solving groups, and training other Maintenance Technicians is essential.

Essential Functions
- Maintain, repair, install, adjust, and modify complex process equipment and instrumentation.
- Collaborate with qualified operators or support teams to validate corrective actions and ensure satisfactory operating conditions.
- Maintain and repair facility infrastructure and utility equipment to provide a reliable and safe working environment.
- Read, interpret, and follow intricate blueprints, schematics, and instruction manuals for hydraulic, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical CNC machine tools and manufacturing process equipment.
- Train production and technical support personnel as required.
- Take a lead role in completing problem-solving assignments.
- Utilize Maximo (CMMS) for obtaining and completing work orders, maintaining accurate documentation of work and machine history.
- Adhere to required documentation practices as described in site quality procedures.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on all CNC/conventional machines and process equipment, updating documentation as needed.
- Perform duties and tasks conforming to all safety regulations and procedures, including LOTO, confined space, Fall Protection/Arrest, hot work permits, and NFPA 70e.
- Maintain clean and orderly facilities, materials, and work areas, practicing good housekeeping.
- Use ladders, powered hand tools, fork trucks, scissor lifts, and other equipment for maintenance duties.
- Utilize complex electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, recorders, VOMs, vernier calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, ball bars, laser alignment tools, electronic levels, and specialized test equipment.
- Actively participate in a team-based environment, including daily team meetings, fostering cooperation, practicing direct professional communication, being open to new ideas, participating in continuous improvement and lean transformation, and considering diverse opinions.
Qualifications/Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance or a previous lead technician role in a comparable industry.
- Strong knowledge of mechanics and the mechanical fit of components, assemblies, and sub-assemblies, especially for precision tolerances in CNC machine maintenance.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50lbs), pushing, pulling, climbing, crawling, bending, squatting/stooping, or working in tight/above shoulder height spaces.
- Well-rounded troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic maintenance repair.
- Eyesight correctable to 20/25.
- Experience reading and interpreting complex mechanical drawings, schematics, instruction manuals, diagrams, N/C, and PLC (ladder) programs.
- Working knowledge of typical testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, megger, multimeter, ball bar, or laser alignment.
- Experience performing duties conforming to all safety regulations and procedures, including LOTO, confined space, hot work permits, and NFPA 70e.
- Basic computer and keyboarding skills, and Microsoft Office knowledge.

- Ability to manage time and multiple projects in addition to normal duties.
- Maintain a proactive rather than reactive stance in dealing with equipment and process repairs or improvements.
- Repair equipment in a safe, timely, and professional manner.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to train other technicians, engineers, operators, or support personnel.
