Overview

Gartner is recruiting for a Senior Director Analyst to join its Government and Education Practice, supporting defense CIOs and technology executives in advancing modernization and innovation. This role delivers actionable insights on emerging technologies, data integration, and operational resilience, engaging with European and global defense organizations.

About This Role

The incumbent will create must-have research, market insights, and best practices for various defense organizations. As part of Gartner’s CIO and AI Leaders Research, Government and Education Practice, the Senior Director will support CIOs and other technology executives, engaging through content creation, in-person or virtual meetings, and conferences. This leader is expected to mentor junior team members while driving thought leadership within Gartner's Business and Technology Insights organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track European and global defense trends and emerging technologies.
  • Advise CIOs and IT Executives on modernization initiatives.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative studies to produce actionable insights.
  • Create evidence-based content and deliver presentations.
  • Identify research process improvements to enhance client value delivery.
  • Mentor and coach junior team members.

What You’ll Need

Minimum of 12 years in relevant IT/defense leadership with experience in EMEA or NATO environments. A bachelor's degree is required; a graduate degree is preferred. You must have deep expertise in technology areas such as AI, data integration, cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, quantum computing, autonomous systems, multi-domain C2, and communication systems. Strong analytical, communication, and mentorship skills are essential.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master’s degree or equivalent and prior experience in a product leadership or consulting role for technology services.
