Overview
We are seeking a full-time Staff Systems Engineer on our Automotive OEM team in our Brea, CA location. In this role, you will lead systems engineering tasks across complex systems, identifying common requirements and design efficiencies within the Automotive Infotainment or ADAS domain.
Essential Functions
- Creates and maintains system architecture specifications, interface definitions, and integration plans.
- Decomposes requirements into a system architecture with defined interfaces and design constraints.
- Designs hardware block diagrams including selection of main components and vehicle interfacing.
- Defines software system architecture and ensures efficient integration with hardware.
- Conducts multidisciplinary design reviews for hardware, firmware, and software alignment.
- Oversees trade-off analysis of hardware constraints and software considerations.
- Establishes system verification criteria unifying hardware, firmware, and software QA.
- Applies systems engineering methodologies including FMEA and risk analysis.
- Provides mentorship and technical leadership across multiple technical domains.
- Represents Garmin among industry partners, peers, and regulating agencies.
- Adheres to Garmin processes and integrates feedback on products in development.
- Travel up to 10% as required.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field plus a minimum of 14 years of relevant experience in system design and architecture with strong hardware-software integration. Must have excellent communication skills and a proven track record of leading complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in systems engineering roles in the Automotive or Aviation industry.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary between $194,000.00 and $238,000.00 per year. This position is eligible for Garmin's benefit program.
