Position Summary

Excel Sports Management is seeking an experienced Senior Director, Brand Marketing to advise a key corporate client on their sponsorship and sports marketing investments. This role will provide end-to-end solutions including strategy, negotiation, activation, implementation, event management, and measurement. The position will lead the development of league and team strategies, oversee partnership management and execution, and provide expert counsel across key sports territories.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day management of client sponsorship activation and marketing initiatives in professional hockey, basketball, and baseball.
  • Build and maintain positive client relationships to enhance partnerships and opportunities.
  • Interact with clients and appropriate agencies/properties to manage sponsorship programming initiatives.
  • Direct development of integrated marketing strategies, creative platforms, and consumer engagement activations.
  • Provide portfolio analysis, identifying opportunities and yielding strategic recommendations.
  • Oversee creation and implementation of materials supporting sponsorship initiatives.
  • Manage and reconcile budgets and provide regular client updates.
  • Manage direct reports to ensure top-tier client service and agency experience.
  • Conduct research and analysis to support client objectives.
  • Manage internal resources and vendors to maintain high work standards.
  • Attend staff events, including nights and weekends, and travel to client events as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 10+ years of experience in sponsorship marketing or brand marketing strategy and activation.
  • Experience in sponsorship of professional hockey, basketball, and/or baseball preferred.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing sponsorship marketing strategies.
  • Strong client, agency, and vendor relationship management experience.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $160,000 - $185,000 per year, with benefits and discretionary bonus eligibility. Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, tenure, business sector, and geographic location as per New York City Salary Transparency Law.
