G2i Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer, AI (Ruby) to help train large-language models (LLMs) to generate production-grade code across a wide range of programming languages. This remote contract position focuses on evaluating, repairing, and refining AI-generated code, providing crucial feedback to improve model performance.

The Role: Software Engineer, AI (Ruby)

You will play a vital role in advancing AI's ability to write high-quality code. Your responsibilities will include:

• Comparing and ranking multiple code snippets, clearly articulating their strengths and weaknesses.
• Repairing and refactoring AI-generated code to ensure correctness, efficiency, and adherence to style guidelines.
• Injecting detailed feedback (ratings, edits, test results) into the Reinforcement Learning with Human Feedback (RLHF) pipeline to ensure its smooth operation.

The ultimate goal is to enable LLMs to propose, critique, and improve code with the proficiency of an experienced engineer.

Understanding RLHF

Reinforcement Learning with Human Feedback (RLHF) for code generation involves a clear process: AI generates code, expert engineers like you rank, edit, and justify improvements, this feedback is converted into reward signals, and reinforcement learning then tunes the model towards producing production-ready code.

What You’ll Need

• A minimum of 3 years of professional software engineering experience, specifically with Ruby.
• Strong code-review instincts, enabling you to swiftly identify logic errors, performance bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities.
• Exceptional attention to detail and superior written communication skills, as a significant part of this role involves explaining complex code decisions.
• An enjoyment for diving into documentation and language specifications.
• The ability to thrive in an asynchronous, low-oversight remote work environment.

Constraint programming experience is a beneficial bonus, though not a mandatory requirement for this role.

What You Don’t Need

No prior experience with RLHF or AI training is necessary. Deep machine learning knowledge is not a prerequisite. If you possess strong code review and critique abilities, G2i Inc. is committed to providing the necessary training in AI specifics.

Tech Stack

This role primarily requires a strong command of Ruby.

Logistics

• Location: Fully remote – work from anywhere.
• Compensation: Contract rates range from $30/hr to $70/hr, depending on your location and seniority.
• Hours: A minimum commitment of 15 hours per week, with up to 40 hours per week available.
• Engagement: This is a 1099 contract position.
