Software Engineer, AI at G2i Inc.

G2i Inc. is seeking a talented Software Engineer, AI, to join their remote team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in training large-language models (LLMs) to generate production-grade code across various programming languages. Your expertise will directly contribute to improving the intelligence and accuracy of AI-generated code.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Comparing and ranking multiple code snippets, providing clear explanations of which is superior and why.
• Repairing and refactoring AI-generated code to ensure correctness, efficiency, and adherence to style guidelines.
• Injecting crucial feedback, including ratings, edits, and test results, into the RLHF (Reinforcement Learning with Human Feedback) pipeline to maintain its smooth operation.

The ultimate goal is to enable the model to propose, critique, and improve code with the same sophistication as a human expert.

RLHF Explained:

The process of Reinforcement Learning with Human Feedback involves generating code, which expert engineers then rank, edit, and justify. This valuable feedback is converted into reward signals, which in turn are used in reinforcement learning to fine-tune the model, guiding it towards producing code that is truly shippable.

What You'll Need

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, specifically in Python.
• Strong code-review instincts, allowing you to quickly identify logic errors, performance bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities.
• Extreme attention to detail and excellent written communication skills. The ability to articulate why one approach is better than another is paramount in this role.
• A preference for reading documentation and language specifications, and a knack for thriving in an asynchronous, low-oversight work environment.

Constraint programming experience is a bonus, but not a mandatory requirement.

What You Don't Need

• No prior experience with RLHF (Reinforcement Learning with Human Feedback) or general AI training is required.
• Deep machine learning knowledge is not a prerequisite. If you possess the ability to clearly review and critique code, G2i Inc. will provide the necessary training for the rest.

Tech Stack

This role primarily focuses on engineers with a strong command of Python.

Logistics

• Location: Fully remote – work from anywhere
• Compensation: From $30/hr to $70/hr, depending on location and seniority
• Hours: Minimum 15 hrs/week, up to 40 hrs/week available
• Engagement: 1099 contract
