Future Now is dedicated to achieving the American Promise through effective government, fair markets, personal freedom, and representative democracy, starting with high-impact state-level interventions.
Internship Program Overview
The goal of our Internship Program is to provide a well-rounded experience, offering interns opportunities to see the impact of their work, gain valuable exposure, and build connections for career development.
Internship Opportunities
We are seeking interns to support the following teams:
- Development: Supports operations, events, community building, database management, and data analysis for fundraising. Responsibilities include maintaining donor databases, data-backed fundraising projects, donor event support, and assisting relationship managers.
- Operations - People & Culture: Supports recruitment, hiring, benefits, payroll, professional development, and onboarding/offboarding. Responsibilities include resume reviews, candidate communications, scheduling, and coordinating professional development and culture events.
- Operations - Finance: Supports budgeting, financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable, and organizational financial planning. Responsibilities include data entry and reconciliation, invoice processing, expense tracking, and administrative support.
- Operations - Events/IT/Administration: Provides comprehensive support for the Operations Team, including event coordination, IT logistics, and administrative management. Responsibilities include onboarding into systems, coordinating event logistics, tracking IT compliance, and ad hoc project support.
- Legal: Provides in-house legal and compliance support, working with outside counsel and preparing training materials. Law student interns are preferred. Responsibilities include legal research in areas like campaign finance, nonprofit, copyright, and employment law, and designing compliance systems.
- The States Project - Lawmaker Communications Intern: Supports The States Project in developing communications and messaging tools for state legislatures. Responsibilities include researching state legislative media, developing media analyses, and assisting with local press monitoring.
- The States Project - Policy Intern: Supports The States Project in policy research and frameworks for state legislatures. Responsibilities include developing policy resources, policy research, tracking legislative trends, and attending partner briefings.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years of additional study or work experience.
- Passion for building state power to achieve the American Promise.
- Exceptional critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to exercise excellent judgment with sensitive and confidential information.
- Capable of independently managing time and tasks in a fast-paced organization.
- Clear communication skills.
