Responsibilities
The Site Reliability Engineer L3 is responsible for maintaining availability and uptime of infrastructure using software engineering principles to address operational challenges. The role focuses on reducing manual toil through automation.
- Research and implement solutions for resilient, always-available services.
- Integrate and automate manual processes.
- Participate in on-call rotations for availability incidents.
- Troubleshoot and support production issues.
- Collaborate on cross-functional projects to implement technology improvements.
- Investigate anomalies and outages to determine root causes and solutions.
- Monitor environment performance and provide analysis.
- Build and maintain automation tooling for infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability pipelines.
- Manage cloud and container orchestration infrastructure.
- Collaborate with software engineering, security, and systems teams.
- Implement best DevOps practices across the organization.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Hands-on experience with cloud service providers (GCP or AWS).
- Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, or Puppet).
- Knowledge of containers and container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, Nomad, etc.).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins, Travis, etc.).
- Strong understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems and CLI.
- Proficiency in shell scripting and another language (Python or Go).
- Experience with distributed version control systems (git, etc.).
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and cloud SDKs.
- Good understanding of networking concepts (TCP/UDP, IP Routing, DNS).
- Experience with CDN technologies (e.g., Akamai).
Preferred Skills:
- GCP, Terraform, Kafka, Git, GitLab, Kubernetes, Docker.
- Working knowledge of Istio service mesh and Akamai.
- Experience with AWS/GCP VPC configuration, NAT, Load Balancing, and monitoring.
- Understanding Kubernetes networking in a microservice architecture.
- Experience with Palo Alto Networks, PanOS, and Infoblox Grid Manager.
Physical Role Requirements
Candidates must be able to sit at a computer for up to eight hours, occasionally lift up to 10 pounds, and perform repetitive motions using hands and fingers.
Education & Experience
BA/BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering (or equivalent experience). Minimum 2+ years in hands-on DevOps, production infrastructure management on cloud, and coding/scripting development.
