Job Description
Iterative Mindset Coach
Fresh Tri is a neuroscience-based technology company that uses a simple, positive approach to health behavior change based on the science of habit formation. Dedicated to helping people feel better, Fresh Tri offers technology that leverages mindset, practice, and iteration—inviting people to test-drive healthy, evidence-based habits, removing the guesswork and feelings of failure that often accompany lifestyle change. Fresh Tri empowers users to be unstoppable by iterating their way to better health. There is no 'fail' — only practice and iteration.
How We Work
Empowering others to be unstoppable begins with fostering a sense of belonging both within and outside of our organization. Our leaders’ values of inclusivity create a workplace culture that encourages, supports, and celebrates diversity of all kinds, connecting us closer to the communities we serve. Our work culture is designed to encourage and support personal growth and development. Team members are challenged to contribute to a variety of initiatives with many opportunities to learn new skills, take on new projects, and embrace new roles. We measure our individual successes by how much we help others on the team, and we measure our impact by how we improve the lives of those we serve. Fresh Tri is a 100% remote team with headquarters on a 170-acre retreat in the Santa Cruz mountains in California. The company offers a highly flexible work schedule and an opportunity to work across many disciplines.
Role Overview
As an Iterative Mindset Coach, you'll support Fresh Tri users through asynchronous, in-app chat conversations—helping them navigate habit change using the Iterative Mindset Method (IMM). This is not traditional health coaching, mental health counseling, or advice-giving. Instead, you'll guide users to practice and iterate their way toward better habits in eating healthy, moving more, reducing stress, and thinking positively.
Your Work Includes:
- Responding to user messages in real-time during your shift (no 1:1 assignments—you'll support whoever reaches out while you're on the clock)
- Recognizing patterns of performance mindset, fear, shame, or discouragement, and skillfully neutralizing failure using brain-based principles
- Asking open-ended, curious questions that help users discover their own insights rather than providing solutions or advice
- Reframing struggle as natural and expected—reminding users that iteration doesn't have to 'stick' right away
- Using warm, plain language to make neuroscience concepts feel accessible and immediately useful
- Decentering yourself as the coach—keeping the user empowered and in the driver's seat of their own journey
- Helping users update their approach in ways that feel inviting, shame-free, and aligned with how the brain actually works
- Modeling the Fresh Tri philosophy: there is no 'fail'—only practice and iteration
You'll handle approximately 50 messages per hour during coverage windows (8am-8pm CST), desired available hours are Monday-Friday from 9am-12pm PST. Candidates will also complete at least one month of training on the Iterative Mindset Method before working independently with users.
Desired Background And Experience
This is an entry-level position with no degree or prior coaching experience required. We'll fully train you on the Iterative Mindset Method—in fact, a beginner's mind can be an advantage here.
What We're Looking For:
- Exceptional written communication skills — You can express warmth, curiosity, and clarity through text
- Genuine empathy and people skills — You naturally attune to what someone is experiencing beneath the surface
- Intellectual curiosity about psychology and neuroscience — You're fascinated by how the brain works and excited to apply brain-friendly principles in real conversations
- Comfort with ambiguity and iteration — You're open to new ideas, willing to adapt your approach, and genuinely believe that 'failure' is just feedback
- Humility and non-judgment — You can step back from being the expert and resist the urge to fix, advise, or validate-seek
- Remote work experience preferred — You're self-directed and comfortable managing your time in a virtual environment
Nice To Have (But Not Required):
- Experience supporting people in any capacity (teaching, mentoring, customer service, peer support, etc.)
- Background in psychology, neuroscience, education, or related fields
- Personal experience with habit change or behavior change practices
Not A Fit If:
- You prefer giving advice or being seen as the expert with all the answers
- You're drawn to traditional performance-based coaching models focused on accountability and results
- You're uncomfortable with the idea that users—not coaches—are the ones driving their own change
