Job Summary
The Claims Examiner is responsible for performing financial reconciliation on all liquidated loans. This role identifies additional recovery opportunities, reviews and researches curtailments, supplemental and remittance incurred losses on liquidated loans, and provides accurate written summaries with evidentiary support, all in accordance with Freedom Mortgage policies and relevant regulations.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Act as liaison with Loss Analysis Department for claim validations and management reporting.
- Maintain and update Claims Sharepoint site and systems for EDI corrections.
- Manage dashboards and perform quality review corrections within 24 hours.
- Analyze financial data and determine recovery opportunities to mitigate losses.
- Research incurred losses and identify trends, curtailments, and charge offs.
- Stay updated with changes to GSE or Government Mortgage Insured guidelines.
- Maintain regular, punctual attendance and complete routine management reporting.
Other Responsibilities
Perform additional duties as assigned and provide occasional guidance to team members.
Qualifications
- High School diploma required; Associate/Bachelor Degree preferred in accounting or related field.
- Five or more years’ mortgage servicing default experience and one or more years’ Loan Servicing platform experience.
- Moderate computer skills including MS Word and Excel; proficiency with Sharepoint and EDI systems.
- Strong analytical skills and comprehensive writing skills.
- Ability to work under general direction, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
The work is performed in a typical office setting with moderate noise levels and occasional physical demands such as lifting up to 25 pounds.
