As a Residential Solar Installer, you will be responsible for the assembly, installation, and maintenance of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on various surfaces, including rooftops and ground mounts. Your daily activities will involve measuring, cutting, drilling, working at heights, performing minor electrical work, assisting with structural upgrades, and utilizing hand and power tools. You will be expected to read plan-sets, follow directions, adhere to safe work practices, and support senior team members.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Loading and unloading company vehicles and project materials at the installation site.
- Efficiently and safely assembling all roof components.
- Performing electrical work as directed by the crew lead, both independently and under supervision.
- Installing projects in strict adherence to Freedom Forever plan sets.
- Flashing penetrations as needed to ensure superior project quality.
- Ensuring all work complies with Freedom Forever policies and applicable codes (e.g., NFPA-70, IRC, IFC, CA-T24).
- Strictly following all Freedom Forever safety regulations and policies.
- Following all directions provided by senior members of the crew.
- Providing recommendations for efficiency and compliance improvements.
- Ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, potentially communicating directly with end users.
- Undertaking domestic travel as required for business purposes.
- Operating a Freedom Forever vehicle when necessary.
- Performing additional duties as assigned to support team operations.
Qualification Requirements
Education & Certifications
- High School Graduate or GED.
Experience
- 6 months to 1 year of PV installation experience (Preferred).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Fundamental understanding of all PV products installed by Freedom Forever.
- Basic understanding of building standards and applicable codes.
- Ability to communicate professionally and concisely.
- Compliant installation of various conduit types (EMT, RMC, IMC, LFMC, FMC).
- Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions effectively.
Physical Demands and Abilities
This role requires significant physical activity, including:
- Handling, controlling, or feeling objects, tools, or controls with hands.
- Standing, walking, climbing ladders, scaffolds, or poles for extended periods.
- Kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, bending, stretching, twisting, or reaching out.
- Repeating the same movements and performing tasks requiring fine motor skills.
- Excellent vision for details, distance, color differentiation, and peripheral sight.
- Ability to make quick, precise adjustments and maintain balance.
- Lifting and carrying objects weighing 50+ pounds.
- Using stomach and lower back muscles for prolonged support.
Travel Requirements
Travel for business purposes, beyond commuting, may be required. If so, a valid Driver's License/Insurance and the ability to drive a personal vehicle to different sites are essential.
