Mental Health Consultant - Overview
Foundation for Early Childhood Education is seeking a Mental Health Consultant as an independent contractor. The role supports early childhood mental health through assessments, referrals, and ongoing support in multiple site locations including Pasadena, Boyle Heights, Echo Park, Hollywood, and Lincoln Heights.
Summary of Duties
- Meet with families and staff to address concerns and facilitate referrals.
- Conduct classroom and individual child observations and assessments.
- Document services and maintain records using the ChildPlus system.
- Facilitate community mental health referrals and follow up on interventions.
- Provide in-service training and written reports per agency requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements
A Bachelor’s Degree in a behavioral or social science is required along with relevant professional licensure (e.g., licensed psychologist, licensed clinical social worker, etc.). At least three years of clinical experience with a prenatal-to-five population is needed, with a preference for experience with high-risk children and families in low-income communities.
Technical Skills
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Programs and ChildPlus.
- Competence with virtual meeting platforms (Microsoft Teams, Zoom).
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.
Other Requirements
