Job Description

The Opportunity at Forward Financing

Forward Financing is a financial technology company based in Boston, Massachusetts, with team members across the United States, Dominican Republic, and Canada. The company's mission is to unlock the capital that fuels small businesses across America. Recognized as a Best Place to Work by Built In Boston and certified as a Great Place To Work®, Forward Financing is committed to investing in its employees, technology, and customer experience for long-term success.

We are currently scaling our technology roadmap to support the next phase of growth, evolving our delivery culture from best effort to High-Performance Predictability.

We are seeking a Project Manager, Enterprise PMO to join our team. This is a strategic leadership position, not a mere administrative role. You will directly partner with Product Leadership to ensure that our most critical initiatives, those directly benefiting our customers, are shipped on time, on budget, and with the quality synonymous with our brand.

The Role: Two-in-a-Box Execution

You will operate in a Two-in-a-Box model alongside Product Management. Product leadership defines the 'What' (Strategy & Definition), while you will own the 'How' (Execution & Delivery). Together, you will share accountability for achieving business outcomes. Your role involves enabling Product and Engineering teams to excel by removing ambiguity, managing cross-functional dependencies, and establishing a predictable path to launch.

What You Will Do

  • Drive Predictable Delivery: Lead 3-4 concurrent Strategic Initiatives from concept to launch, ensuring that commitments to customers are met precisely.
  • Champion the Schedule: Translate business goals into actionable timelines. For hard launch dates, you will work backward, manage the critical path, and ensure Engineering remains unblocked.
  • Governance as an Enabler: Guide initiatives through our Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC), acting as a steward of quality. You will ensure projects meet clear Stage Gate criteria before moving from Definition to Build, protecting the team from scope creep and churn.
  • Maintain the Source of Truth: Ensure our System of Record (Jira / Monday.com) accurately reflects reality, providing clear baseline scope for informed organizational decision-making.
  • Control Tower Visibility: Provide Senior Leadership with transparent variance reporting, highlighting deviations in Scope, Schedule, or Budget.
  • Proactive Problem Solving: If a project risks slipping, you will flag it early and bring data-driven solutions to the table, believing that early bad news is preferable to late surprises.
  • Risk & Dependency Management: Proactively map cross-functional dependencies impacting Sales, Underwriting, Analytics, Legal, Marketing, and Operations, ensuring non-technical workstreams are fully integrated into the project plan.
  • Resource Clarity: When priorities conflict, you will provide the necessary data for the Portfolio Committee to make fair and stack-ranked resourcing decisions.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Project/Program Management experience, specifically in Fintech, Banking, or other Regulated Industries.
  • Proven track record of managing cross-functional portfolios (Product, Engineering, Legal, Operations) with hard deadlines.
  • Governance Expertise: Experience implementing or managing strict Stage Gate / PDLC frameworks.
  • Tooling Mastery: Deep proficiency in Jira/Confluence and Monday.com. Experience with Engineering Intelligence tools (e.g., Jellyfish) is a strong plus.
  • Certifications: PMP / CSM certifications are preferred, but battle scars from complex deliveries are valued more.

Compensation

Annual Targeted Salary: $120,000– $140,000 USD

Annual Target Bonus: 10%

Forward Financing is committed to fair and transparent compensation, providing a package that recognizes skills, experience, and unique value. They take a market-based approach to pay, regularly reviewing benchmark data to ensure competitiveness, equity, and alignment with their performance-driven culture. Final offers are determined by various factors, including the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, specific skills, and internal equity.

Total Rewards

Additionally, Forward Financing offers a comprehensive total rewards package, including medical, dental, vision, commuter benefits, a flexible time-off policy, paid parental leave, 401k match for US employees, wellness reimbursement, volunteering days, an annual professional development budget, and charitable donation match.

Forward Financing is a remote-first company, prioritizing workplace flexibility. The focus is on impact and contributions rather than location. Employees are welcome to work from one of their premiere office locations for in-person collaboration. The company also fosters virtual and in-person ways to connect, celebrate, and have fun.

Forward Financing Core Values

  • Drive the Mission: Believe in financial opportunity for underserved small businesses, saying “yes” when others say “no.”

  • Shoot for Extraordinary: Inspired by innovative thinking and continuous improvement, never settling for yesterday’s best.
