Job Description
About Formant
Formant is building the operating system for intelligent machines, helping companies deploy, monitor, and scale fleets of robots in the real world—across logistics, cleaning, agriculture, and more. As a Series A startup with an experienced team and real production customers, you'll work on software that directly affects how physical systems operate at scale.
The Role
We are seeking an ambitious early-career Full-Stack Engineer I to enhance the Formant platform's reliability, usability, and power for our customers. This role involves working across the entire stack on customer issues, core product development, and internal tooling, with a strong emphasis on improving existing platform reliability and supportability. It's an ideal opportunity for individuals passionate about becoming strong product engineers by tackling real production problems, from debugging to implementing preventative improvements. We highly value candidates excited about leveraging AI tools to boost productivity. You will collaborate closely with senior engineers and product leaders, gaining deep system context and making meaningful code contributions from day one.
This is a rotational role: you’ll initially focus on customer problems (support and reliability) and gradually transition into core product and platform development as you build expertise.

- Help develop internal AI tooling (agents/chatbots) for common support workflows.
- Enhance logs, metrics, and diagnostics to simplify issue detection and resolution.
- Proactively reduce support load by improving product and tooling.
- Explore unfamiliar codebases or technologies to gain insights.
Who You Are
- 0–3 years of professional software engineering experience (including internships, co-ops, and significant projects).
- Pragmatic: able to distinguish between shipping a quick fix and undertaking a full refactor.
- Strong fundamentals in computer science and software design.
- Comfortable utilizing modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g., coding copilots, LLMs) to boost productivity and learning.
- Willing to work on
