About The Role
The Utilities & Building Infrastructure Engineer supports facility and equipment performance, reliability, and compliance. You will troubleshoot, monitor, optimize critical assets, and support capital projects related to utility and facility expansion. This involves working with Chilled Water, Hot Water, Reverse Osmosis (RO), Purified Water systems, and cleanroom/building infrastructure.
What You’ll Do
- Utility Systems: Develop preventive and predictive maintenance procedures and maintain P&IDs for utility systems such as Hot Water, Chilled Water, RO, WFI, Clean Steam, and Compressed Gas systems.
- Building & Infrastructure: Act as the SME for building infrastructure including cleanroom architecture, door control systems, badge reader systems, roofing, and lighting. Create and maintain maintenance checklists.
- CapEx Projects: Lead or support utility and infrastructure projects; partner with external design/build firms and support commissioning and hand-off processes.
- Compliance & Reliability: Manage deviations, CAPAs, change controls, SOPs, audits, and develop Health Scorecards while participating in risk reviews and shutdown management.
- Collaboration & Support: Work closely with Maintenance, Project Engineering, and external contractors and provide after-hours troubleshooting and weekend support as needed.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field or equivalent technical experience with minimum 4+ years in utilities or building infrastructure engineering, preferably in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology setting. Hands-on experience with utility systems (WFI, Clean Steam, RO, HVAC, compressed gases) and strong familiarity with predictive maintenance, asset reliability practices, and risk assessment tools are required. Excellent communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills are essential.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Must lift up to 50 pounds, gown into classified areas, and work in both warehouse and office settings. The noise level ranges from moderate to occasionally loud with varying physical demands.
