Overview

The Ford Motor Company is seeking a highly skilled and passionate GKE Platform Engineering Manager. This role focuses on managing Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) platforms at scale for enterprise-level workloads on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will lead the design, development, and optimization of Kubernetes-based solutions and drive CI/CD pipelines to support a developer-first environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize large-scale GKE environments in multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud contexts.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
  • Utilize ACM and KCC for enterprise GKE cluster management.
  • Implement workload identity and security best practices.
  • Develop custom operators and controllers to automate deployments.
  • Enhance developer experience with intuitive platform solutions.
  • Design multi-cluster and multi-regional ingress patterns.
  • Troubleshoot complex Kubernetes and application issues.
  • Deploy observability tools like Prometheus, Dynatrace, and Splunk.
  • Automate platform tasks using Terraform, Helm, and GKE APIs.

Qualifications

Candidates should have 8+ years overall experience in cloud platform engineering, including 5+ years with GCP and GKE. Experience with enterprise-scale clusters, CI/CD automation, custom Kubernetes development, and deep troubleshooting is required. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and relevant GCP certifications are preferred.

  • Extensive experience with GCP and GKE

  • Expertise in workload identity & security practices
  • Hands-on with Anthos Config Management and KCC
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
