Job Description

About Ford Motor Company

We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?

About the ADAS Data Platform Supervisor Role

Ford’s ADAS team is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in semi-autonomous driving, developing industry-leading technologies like BlueCruise and Pre-Collision Assist. To support these features, we need robust, high-performance web applications and data services that allow our engineers and analysts to visualize, annotate, and interpret massive amounts of vehicle data.

We are seeking an Engineering Supervisor to lead a team of engineers responsible for our internal full stack ecosystem. You will oversee the development of our specialized visualization tools and data annotation platforms that fuel our analytics engine. The ideal candidate is a systems-thinker who understands how to build scalable cloud infrastructure while optimizing for the unique challenges of streaming large-scale robotics data.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of five full stack software engineers. You will be responsible for the career growth of junior developers and the strategic direction of senior individual contributors.
  • Take full ownership of our in-house visualization stack. This includes developing custom JavaScript extensions to overlay complex 3D data, such as integrating satellite imagery and map tiles with real-time vehicle perception data.
  • Oversee the development of web applications used by data analysts to annotate vehicle events. Ensure seamless integration between backend and frontend interfaces, managing the lifecycle of data from mcap files to ML training sets via automated workflows.
  • Own and maintain the backend multimodal file server. You will ensure the reliable streaming of data from our on-prem data centers to browser-based clients, optimizing for low latency and high concurrency.
  • Apply rigorous systems thinking to the software lifecycle. You will decompose complex implementation requirements from a clear Concept of Operations (ConOps) and ensure all features are validated against real-world ADAS needs.
  • Prioritize and enforce high standards for technical documentation to ensure the long-term maintainability of our tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Deep expertise in Node.js and React frameworks.
  • Experience with Foxglove Studio or similar robotics visualization platforms (e.g., Webviz, RViz).
  • A strong understanding of server-client architecture.
  • Proven experience deploying and managing full stack applications on private/public cloud.
  • Proficiency handling large-scale multimodal data formats (mcap, rosbag).
  • A proven track record of mentoring junior engineers and providing effective leadership and technical vision for senior engineers.
  • The ability to distill high-level requirements and granular software implementation.

Even Better, You May Have

  • Experience in the automotive or robotics industry.
  • Familiarity with ADAS concepts (perception, mapping, localization, path planning).
  • Experience building tools specifically for machine learning data pipelines.

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!
