What We Are Looking For

As our Staff Infrastructure Engineer, you will own the foundation upon which everything else is built. With wide autonomy, you will set the infrastructure roadmap, proactively detect weak points, fine-tune databases, and design guardrails that enable product engineers to ship quickly. You will both build and steward our infrastructure by evolving what works, replacing what does not, and defining what great infrastructure means for Forage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering, with 3+ years focused on infrastructure/DevOps/SRE.
• Deep experience with AWS (or another major cloud provider) and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CDK, Pulumi, or CloudFormation.
• Ability to productionize systems—monitoring, hardening, scaling, and security.
• Proven track record of managing complex production systems, especially cloud infrastructure and databases.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Nice to have: fintech, payments, or regulated environments experience.
• Nice to have: experience as the first infrastructure engineer/SRE in a startup.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and evolve our AWS environment for security, scalability, and reliability.
• Improve system hardening, observability, and resiliency; build automation and guardrails.
• Lead operational excellence for Postgres deployments including performance tuning and disaster recovery.
• Mentor product engineers and raise the team’s infrastructure standards.
• Establish best practices across infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and incident response.
