Job Information: Open Rank Teaching Professor in Mathematics and Statistics
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Florida International University is inviting applications for an Open Rank Teaching Professor position. This 9-month, non-tenure track role is primarily based at the Modesto Maidique Campus, with a start date of August 2026.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a variety of first-year and introductory mathematics courses, including those designed for non-science majors. A strong emphasis will be placed on utilizing evidence-based instructional practices. Teaching assignments may also include hybrid or fully online courses. The primary responsibilities of this position are teaching and service, which entail teaching four courses (12 credits) per semester and contributing service to the department, college, and university.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or Master's degree plus 4-6 years of teaching experience. The degree and experience must be in Mathematics or a closely related discipline.
- A minimum of 18 graduate credits in Mathematics is required for teaching certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience or training in applying evidence-based active learning-focused classroom practices.
- Proven experience teaching first-year mathematics courses at the university level.
