Job Summary
The Director of Education Abroad at Florida International University (FIU) is a visionary leader responsible for the strategic development and expansion of FIU's education abroad and exchange programs. This role requires a dynamic individual with experience in international education and student success. The Director will lead efforts to increase enrollment, enhance program offerings, foster external relationships, and administrative support. The Director formulates policies and strategies for the Office of Education Abroad.
- Lead the Education Abroad team, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. Foster a culture of innovation and creativity within the unit.
- Develops and executes strategies to increase student participation in student mobility programs.
- Works closely with faculty, academic departments, and advisors to promote programs and answer questions. Works closely with student affairs departments to align programs to fit student affairs policies.
- Conducts outreach and promotional activities to raise awareness of education abroad and exchange programs.
- Negotiates agreements and partnerships that enhance the quality and accessibility of education abroad and exchange programs.
- Develops and implements initiatives to foster positive relationships with students participating in education abroad programs. Maintains open communication channels with students to address concerns and provide guidance.
- Works closely with the International Travel Committee to ensure the effectiveness of the institution's international travel policy, pre-departure protocols and emergency responses for all internationally traveling students.
- Oversees the administrative functions of the Education Abroad office, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
- Ensures compliance with university policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
- Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and eight (8) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree and six (6) years of appropriate experience.

- Previous experience with study abroad programs.
