Job Summary: Payroll Clerk
As a Payroll Clerk at First Student, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Contact Manager with all aspects of daily payroll functions. This position is responsible for processing new employee profiles, managing payroll calculations, handling benefits enrollments, and performing various clerical and accounting duties. This role offers an hourly rate of $21.00.
Major Responsibilities
- Processes new employee files/records and submits them to the Contract Manager for approval, then forwards appropriate paperwork to the regional accounting office.
- Calculates driver/staff payroll and accurately inputs payroll information into the computer for processing.
- Accurately tracks attendance for permanent part-time employees.
- Maintains an accurate driver seniority list.
- Answers the telephone and responds to customer inquiries.
- Distributes mail, prepares overnight packages, and manages mailing supplies.
- Orders the location's office supplies and maintains inventory.
- Assists the Contract Manager in accurately tracking overtime to reduce/eliminate unnecessary and/or additional punch hours.
- Verifies all standard hours against actual hours to reduce any additional driver hours.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Or Certifications Required
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Experience Or Skills Required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates leadership qualities and is a self-starter.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer literacy, including 10 Key, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
- Incumbent must be able to move about the office and between floors.
- Ability to utilize standard office equipment.
- Capability to access filing systems/cabinets.
- Communicate effectively and efficiently in person or by telephone.
- Work environment includes office and school bus yard.
- Possible on-the-road duties.
