Overview
The Corporate Intern - UX Designer program at First Citizens Bank offers an invaluable opportunity for aspiring professionals to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting, contributing tangible value to the organization. This role focuses on creating design solutions and conducting essential research for First Citizens Bank's digital products, services, and channels. Interns will engage in collaborative work with a diverse team of designers, product owners, product managers, developers, and business stakeholders, aiming to craft intuitive and user-friendly features and products for the bank's clientele.

Responsibilities
While direct managers assign a majority of the principal accountabilities, First Citizens Bank actively integrates interns as dynamic team members, involving them in interesting projects. The Corporate Intern - UX Designer will participate in the following key areas:
Design Experience and Support (45%)
- Collaborate with team members to enhance the Bank’s digital user experience by developing and iterating prototypes, visual designs, digital design assets, user journey maps, and wireframes as assigned.
- Ensure that digital products, services, and channels provide an efficient, easy-to-use, and accessible experience for clients.
- Help advocate for product design that aligns with the needs and behaviors of the target audience to the product team.
- Develop a strong understanding of brand guidelines and apply visual elements and styles consistently to user interfaces.
User Research (25%)
- Assist in conducting user interviews and surveys.
- Analyze research outcomes and contribute to compiling comprehensive reports.
- Utilize data to help draft user personas and scenarios, informing critical design decisions.
- Perform competitive analysis to identify industry patterns and best practices.
Collaboration (30%)
- Work closely with other design team members to create necessary assets.
- Engage with enterprise design, product, technology, and QA stakeholders to measure product and team success.
- Contribute to the establishment of brand guidelines and standards for the enterprise design team.
Internship dates: May 27, 2026 - July 31, 2026
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of relevant experience.
- Currently enrolled at an accredited collegiate institution during the summer program.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week throughout the program duration.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Strong desire to learn and grow within the UX design field.
- Studying Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Product Design, Visual Communication, Interaction Design, or other relevant fields.
- Some practical or internship experience utilizing design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, or Axure.
- Relevant practical or internship experience in user research.
- Possess a positive attitude, natural curiosity, and enjoy collaborative teamwork.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to multitask effectively.
- Aptitude for adapting and adjusting priorities based on business needs.
- Ability to quickly take direction and absorb new information.
- Self-starter, comfortable asking questions and determining optimal courses of action.
