The Senior Data Engineer Role
Join us as a Senior Data Engineer, where you’ll play a key role in enabling the FMA to be a truly data and intelligence led regulator. This is a hands-on role focused on designing, building, and optimising our data infrastructure using Microsoft Fabric.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimise, and oversee the conceptual and logical design of our data infrastructure to ensure efficient data processing and storage.
- Lead the design, development, and optimisation of scalable data pipelines and integrations to support analytics and reporting.
- Support the design and implementation of data warehousing solutions that enable seamless data integration and support advanced analytics and business intelligence.
- Develop and manage Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability.
- Integrate data from multiple sources and ensure data consistency and accuracy across the organisation.
- Ensure the data flows into (from external sources) and out of FMA are fit for purpose, aligned to operational needs and are secure and reliable.
About You
You will be an experienced Senior Data Engineer with hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, T-SQL, Power BI, DAX and Python. You’ll have a proven track record of building scalable, production-grade data platforms. You’ll bring depth across data engineering, analytics engineering and data modelling, with a focus on enabling trusted insights at scale.
You will be comfortable acting as a technical leader, working end-to-end across data ingestion, transformation and modelling. You’re able to hit the ground running, shaping platform patterns, improving data reliability, and partnering with stakeholders to turn complex data requirements into well-designed Fabric solutions.

How to Apply
The appointing salary range for this role is $135,000 - $140,000, plus 4% KiwiSaver and the benefits outlined above. Final offers are based on experience, skills, and internal equity.
