Role Overview

As a Software Engineer AI Product at Figma, you will lead early-phase AI systems development and work with cutting-edge AI research to enhance design experiences. You will collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and data scientists to take AI projects from ideation to production.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead early-phase AI systems development to improve user experience.
  • Build systems to measure and enhance AI performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for innovative solutions.
  • Break down open-ended AI challenges into actionable engineering strategies.
  • Mentor team members and promote data and AI best practices.
  • Improve the hiring process by recruiting outstanding AI talent.

Qualifications

Required: 5+ years in Software Engineering with at least 1 year in generative AI product development; proven ability in the full lifecycle of early-phase AI projects; proficiency in prototyping and converting ideas into successful 0 → 1 projects; deep product and business acumen.

Preferred: Expertise in AI indexing, retrieval systems, personalization or NLP; experience planning multi-year roadmaps; advanced degree in AI/ML or a related field; a growth mindset with a track record in mentoring senior engineers.
