Job Description

About Figma

Figma is growing our team of passionate creatives and builders on a mission to make design accessible to all. Figma’s platform helps teams bring ideas to life—whether you're brainstorming, creating a prototype, translating designs into code, or iterating with AI. From idea to product, Figma empowers teams to streamline workflows, move faster, and work together in real time from anywhere in the world. If you're excited to shape the future of design and collaboration, join us!

We’re looking for a Manager, Web Development to lead our dedicated team of web developers. In this role, you’ll play a vital role in building and maintaining our web platform. You will collaborate with designers, marketers, data scientists, and engineers to develop and maintain Figma's web properties. These include the Figma.com, designsystems.com, and config.figma.com.

You'll work with a variety of modern web technologies including React, NextJS, Typescript, GraphQL, headless CMS (Sanity/Contentful/Payload) and other NodeJS based frameworks. Your role will also include collaborating on planning goals, roadmapping, and managing vendor relationships.

This is an ideal role for a leader who loves the intersection of design, content, and web and who wants to shape how Figma shows up in the world—with clarity and craft.

This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.

What you’ll do at Figma:

  • Lead the Web Development team by removing blockers and providing guidance while empowering the team to drive technical decisions across Figma.com, config.figma.com, and designsystems.com
  • Hire, manage, support, and develop a team of engineers
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to set strategy, priorities, and mission for teams and projects
  • Manage complex projects from start to finish—maintaining timelines, collaborator expectations, ticket triaging, and regularly presenting with teammates and leadership
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Growth, Brand, and SEO teams to ensure reliable, performant, accessible, and secure sites
  • Act as a bridge between the marketing web team and our security and infrastructure groups — surfacing needs, sharing context, and facilitating cross-functional improvements through implementation and thorough documentation
  • Create and maintain comprehensive testing strategies and make recommendations for the latest web technologies and improvements
  • Mentor team members, support new hires during onboarding, and provide technical guidance to technical and non-technical collaborators

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • 7+ years of full-stack development experience, with deep expertise in TypeScript, React, Next.js, and Node.js, plus hands-on experience with Playwright, Jest, and other E2E testing frameworks
  • Strong background in modern web architecture, including headless CMS platforms (Sanity, Contentful, Payload), caching strategies, CDN proxies, edge functions, and performance optimization across SSR and SSG environments
  • 3+ years of people management experience leading in-house web development teams, providing technical direction, mentorship, and delivery oversight
  • Deep knowledge of web best practices spanning security (DDoS, XSS, SQL injection), database management, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD strategy, deployment processes, legal/cookie compliance, performance, and WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards
  • Proven ability to lead complex projects and align cross-functional stakeholders across design, product, legal, data, and marketing—facilitating productive discussions and driving teams toward shared outcomes

While not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:

  • Experience using Figma
  • Experience with multi-product brands
  • Solid understanding of conversion rate optimization standard methodologies, using A/B testing to achieve results
  • Experience working on SEO-driven projects, localization, & experimentation
