Job Summary
The STRIDES Laboratory Diagnostics Officer provides technical guidance on laboratory and diagnostic strategies to support the STRIDES Activity. The role involves offering technical support to in-country staff, designing workplans, ensuring quality assurance, and developing management reports and technical materials.
Accountabilities
Technical Requirements: Provide technical direction and guidance, build capacity of in-country teams, manage protocols and training materials, conduct technical analysis and strategy proposals, and support research studies in collaboration with monitoring and evaluation teams.
Project Design & Implementation: Develop strategies and tools for laboratory/diagnostic components, support workplan and budget tracking, monitor deliverables and reports, and facilitate quality improvement interventions in line with international standards and assessments.
Operations Management: Oversee timelines, budgets, project spend tracking, and reporting; represent the project in donor meetings.
Project/Program Reporting: Prepare technical reports, presentations, and manuscripts summarizing STRIDES results and data analysis.
Quality Assurance: Develop quality standards, document procedures, coordinate activities to meet donor and regulatory requirements, and keep abreast of innovations in the field.
Applied Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in infectious disease diagnostics and field implementation
- Experience with laboratory quality standards and technical reporting
- Proficiency in database management and Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills
- Fluency in English; additional language skills are a plus
Education & Experience
Master's Degree in a related field with 6+ years of relevant experience in technical assistance, infectious disease diagnosis, and laboratory strengthening. Project Management certification is preferred.
Travel Requirements
10%-25% travel.
Compensation & Benefits
US-based salary range: USD 93,000 - USD 104,000 annually with additional benefits such as pension contributions, paid vacation, sick days, and holidays.
