About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated Specialist in Technical Writing to join our team in Waco, TX. This role involves gathering, composing, and editing comprehensive technical documentation to support our military and commercial clients. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to produce high-quality manuals, flight operation guides, maintenance instructions, and other technical publications essential for the operation and maintenance of complex aerospace systems. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to mission-critical projects that enhance national security and support our warfighters. The role requires a detail-oriented professional capable of translating complex technical data into clear, accessible documentation adhering to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree with four (4) years of relevant technical writing experience, or a graduate degree with two (2) years of experience. Alternatively, candidates with at least eight (8) years of technical writing experience within the aerospace or defense industry, regardless of educational background, will also be considered. Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing, editing, and proofreading is essential, along with the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance. Preferred qualifications include an active Secret Clearance at the time of hire.
Responsibilities
- Gather technical information by collaborating with engineers, designers, and other subject matter experts to understand complex systems, schematics, and operational procedures.
- Develop, author, and edit technical manuals, flight operation guides, maintenance manuals, and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) documents using FrameMaker, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office tools.
- Ensure all documentation complies with industry standards such as ATA100, ATA iSpec 2200, MIL-PRF-38807C, MIL-STD-2361C, MIL-STD-37874, and S1000D, as well as relevant DoD and FAA regulations.
- Translate technical concepts into clear, user-friendly documentation suitable for diverse end-users, including military personnel and civilian technicians.
- Review and validate technical content for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project requirements and standards.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality documentation within scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
- Recommend improvements to processes, tools, and systems to enhance efficiency and quality of technical publications.
- Coordinate with project management to monitor project milestones, deliverables, and resource allocation.
- Maintain organized documentation repositories and version control to support ongoing updates and revisions.
- Participate in reviews and audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
