About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our high-traction, early-stage startup that is building the next generation of private market infrastructure. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of financial technology, developing scalable and robust backend systems that support complex investment workflows. As a key member of our engineering team, you will collaborate closely with technical leadership to shape architecture decisions, enhance data platforms, and implement integrations that enable sophisticated user experiences. The position is based in San Francisco, with a flexible work arrangement that includes four days per week onsite. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer eager to take ownership of impactful projects in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Qualifications

• 3-6 years of professional software engineering experience, particularly with backend or backend-leaning full-stack development.
• Proficiency in TypeScript or similar statically typed languages such as Scala, Rust, or Haskell is essential.
• Experience operating in startup or high-growth environments is preferred, demonstrating adaptability and a proactive mindset.
• Proven track record of designing, developing, and maintaining production-grade systems, with a strong understanding of system architecture and data management.
• Comfort with modern AI-assisted development tools and a collaborative, ownership-oriented attitude are highly valued.
• Willingness to grow technical scope and responsibility over time is important.
• Ability to work onsite in downtown San Francisco four days a week.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs that support core product functionalities, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Create and optimize data pipelines that ingest, structure, and enhance data from diverse and unstructured sources, transforming raw inputs into high-quality datasets for downstream applications.
• Support and develop integrations that enable programmatic access to platform data, including AI-driven interaction layers to facilitate advanced workflows.
• Contribute to the evolution of modular, event-driven system architecture, promoting best practices in software design and engineering.
• Participate actively in system design discussions, technical planning, and prioritization to align engineering efforts with product goals.
• Own significant platform components from initial concept through to deployment, ensuring maintainability and robustness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and other engineers, to deliver innovative solutions that meet user needs and business objectives.
