About The Sales Representative Role
Are you an experienced Sales Professional, Restaurant Manager, Culinary Manager, or Chef looking for career development opportunities? This outside Sales Representative position is based in the Aspen CO area and involves promoting Sysco's products and services to new and existing customers. The primary goal is to build strong relationships, drive sales growth, and support customer success within your designated territory. You will be responsible for developing new business, maintaining existing accounts, and ensuring customer satisfaction through personalized service and expert product knowledge.
Qualifications for a Sales Representative
Required Education/Experience: A bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or a related discipline is preferred. Alternatively, candidates with a high school diploma or GED combined with at least three years of restaurant management, B2B or outside sales experience, or relevant internships such as the Sysco Sales Internship are encouraged to apply. Preferred qualifications include bilingual abilities, restaurant management experience, foodservice outside sales background, or chef experience. Candidates must hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record, including no recent multiple DUIs, and current automobile insurance meeting specified liability limits.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new business opportunities and penetrate existing accounts to achieve sales targets and growth objectives within the assigned territory.
- Identify and qualify prospects following company account stratification goals.
- Research customer needs and recommend suitable products and services to meet those needs effectively.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and product innovations to provide valuable insights to customers.
- Educate customers on product features, pricing, availability, and usage, providing practical training when necessary.
- Drive personal vehicle to customer locations, industry events, and company meetings, maintaining professionalism and punctuality.
- Manage accounts receivable processes, working closely with the credit department to ensure timely collections.
- Coordinate delivery schedules with transportation, troubleshooting issues such as stock shortages or special orders.
- Participate in company events, promotional activities, and customer visits to strengthen relationships and promote brand loyalty.
- Attend sales meetings, training sessions, and district gatherings to stay updated on product offerings and sales strategies.
- Assist in onboarding and training new team members as needed.
- Review daily and weekly reports including sales performance, customer requests, and profit margins to inform strategic decisions.
- Handle administrative tasks such as preparing sales budgets, maintaining records, processing credits, and generating sales quotes and menus.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support team objectives and operational excellence.
