This critical role involves performing detailed inspections, accurately interpreting complex engineering drawings, and collaborating closely with machinists, supervisors, and management to maintain rigorous quality protocols. You will exercise significant authority and accountability within a dynamic manufacturing environment, embedding quality throughout every stage of the production process. Additionally, you will support internal audits, manage non-conformance issues, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, directly enhancing operational excellence and fostering customer trust.

Responsibilities

  • Perform First Article Inspections (FAI), in-process checks, and final inspections on CNC-machined parts to verify conformance to both customer and internal standards.
  • Accept or reject parts based on comprehensive inspection data, ensuring strict compliance with customer specifications and quality requirements.
  • Communicate inspection results clearly and professionally to machinists, supervisors, and management, effectively highlighting any quality issues or deviations.
  • Hold machinists accountable for drawing compliance, accuracy of documentation, and the timely implementation of corrective actions when necessary.
  • Identify, tag, and meticulously isolate non-conforming materials, ensuring proper handling and thorough documentation.
  • Support the creation and management of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), conduct root cause analysis, and implement Corrective/Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Participate actively in internal and external audits, which includes thorough preparation, meticulous documentation review, and continuous compliance monitoring.
  • Maintain detailed inspection records, ensure complete traceability, and manage all documentation within the quality management system.
  • Escalate critical quality issues promptly and professionally to ensure immediate resolution and support continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of proven quality inspection experience within a CNC machining environment.
  • Strong understanding of blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and precision measurement tools.
  • Working knowledge of quality systems such as AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015.
  • Proficiency in various inspection techniques, including FAI, in-process, and final inspections.
  • Effective communication, organization, and problem-solving skills to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with inspection software like PC-DMIS or SolidWorks.
  • Preferred: Experience with NCRs, CAPAs, and ERP systems such as Fulcrum.
