About The Role
The IT Architect II at CHRISTUS Health plays a pivotal role in designing and overseeing the architecture of the organization’s IT systems. This position involves developing comprehensive system infrastructure, ensuring system security, and managing application architecture throughout the software and data lifecycle. The role requires a strategic thinker capable of translating complex business requirements into scalable, reliable, and efficient technical solutions. As a key contributor to enterprise architecture, the IT Architect II drives initiatives that align technology strategies with organizational goals, ensuring systems are adaptable to future growth and technological advancements. The role demands strong leadership and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively across various levels of management and technical teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience working with complex IT systems within large corporate environments.
- At least four (4) years of hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering, system or application architecture, software development, or system administration.
- Proven expertise in system performance modeling and tuning.
- TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) certification is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing the organization’s information system vision and strategic plans, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Research and participate in beta testing of new systems and technologies to evaluate their suitability for CHRISTUS Health’s environment.
- Evaluate proposed system acquisitions, providing critical input on compatibility, cost, resource requirements, and maintenance considerations.
- Develop and recommend plans to enhance system performance and efficiency, addressing hardware, software, and external services.
- Establish and maintain standards, procedures, and best practices across various technology domains.
- Participate in the design and implementation of proactive data collection and reporting processes, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Maintain current certifications and in-depth knowledge of emerging IT trends and technologies.
- Lead infrastructure design, performance modeling, and capacity planning initiatives.
- Provide guidance and leadership on architecture design projects, ensuring solutions are scalable, flexible, and aligned with business needs.
- Collaborate with technical teams to develop and uphold technical standards and best practices.
- Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to all levels of management, including executive leadership.
- Participate in requirements gathering, discovery, and stakeholder engagement to ensure solutions meet organizational needs.
- Evaluate new system proposals and oversee change management processes to ensure seamless integration and minimal disruption.
- Identify dependencies and potential risks, proactively planning mitigation strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and external partners to support system support and upgrades.
- Apply advanced understanding of clinical and business operations to develop innovative and effective IT solutions.
- Ensure all architecture initiatives support organizational growth, scalability, and security standards.
