About the Role: Estimator

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Estimator to join our client's dynamic team in San Diego, CA. This is a permanent position focused on ground-up commercial construction projects with budgets up to $10 million, including quick-service restaurants, gas stations, retail outlets, and other commercial facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in estimating within the construction industry, particularly with projects involving retail, QSR, and fuel stations. Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating, specifically within commercial construction sectors such as retail, QSR, and fuel stations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience with estimating projects up to $10 million, including ground-up construction.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, processes, and equipment.
• Proficiency in estimation and project management software tools.
• Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of presenting complex information clearly and effectively.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong negotiation and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

• Preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for commercial ground-up projects, including fuel stations, retail stores, and restaurants.
• Review and analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other project documentation to develop comprehensive estimates.
• Conduct site visits to gather necessary data and assess project scope accurately.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors to gather and consolidate data for precise cost estimation.
• Develop and maintain a database of standard costs, construction variables, and market data to enhance estimate accuracy.
• Present and explain estimates to clients, management, and stakeholders, ensuring clarity and confidence in the projections.
• Identify potential cost uncertainties and develop contingency plans to mitigate risks.
• Participate in proposal presentations, bid negotiations, and contract discussions to secure project awards.
• Continuously update estimating processes and tools to reflect industry best practices and market changes.
