About The Distribution Clerk Role

The Distribution Services Associate at Christus Health plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of hospital supply and equipment distribution. This position involves the receipt, storage, and distribution of supplies necessary for daily hospital functions. The associate provides essential support to various hospital units, ensuring that medical staff have timely access to the materials they need to deliver quality patient care. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols, including handling hazardous materials and exposure to bloodborne pathogens. The associate will report directly to the Team Supervisor of Distribution Services and work in a dynamic environment that demands flexibility, reliability, and a strong commitment to safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
• Valid New Mexico Driver's License preferred.
• Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions in English.
• Basic computer literacy with the ability to learn new software applications.
• Six months of experience in Central Supply or the medical field is preferred.

Additional skills include physical stamina to perform tasks such as walking, lifting (up to 70 pounds), pulling, pushing, reaching, bending, climbing, and operating storeroom equipment. Candidates should be comfortable working under daily deadlines and in various environmental conditions, including exposure to all weather elements and hazardous materials.

Responsibilities

• Distribute supplies and equipment to hospital units efficiently and accurately, ensuring timely support for patient care activities.
• Receive, inspect, and store incoming supplies, verifying quantities and quality against purchase orders and delivery documentation.
• Maintain organized storage areas, ensuring easy access to supplies and proper inventory management.
• Operate storeroom equipment such as pallet jacks, carts, and forklifts safely and effectively.
• Adhere to safety protocols, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and bloodborne pathogens.
• Maintain accurate records of supplies distributed and received, updating inventory management systems as required.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment, complying with OSHA and hospital safety standards.
• Participate in training sessions and team meetings to stay updated on procedures and safety practices.
• Respond promptly to urgent supply requests, prioritizing tasks to meet hospital operational needs.
