About The Role

The Data Scientist role at Guidehouse is a critical position within the Defense and Security Segment, focusing on leveraging data analytics to support large-scale programs within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This position involves collecting, analyzing, and visualizing data to identify trends, develop insights, and inform decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement data visualization solutions, improve existing processes, and ensure data quality standards are maintained. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to national security initiatives by providing actionable intelligence through advanced data analysis and visualization techniques. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, technical expertise, and the ability to communicate complex findings effectively to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related fields.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in consulting, data analytics, or project management.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal or Department of Defense (DoD) Public Trust clearance; active Public Trust or Suitability clearance preferred.
• Strong proficiency in data visualization tools like Power BI.
• Experience with programming languages such as R.
• Familiarity with data governance standards.
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Desirable: Experience in law enforcement, database optimization, process improvement, and developing training materials.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop data visualization dashboards and solutions using tools such as Power BI to provide comprehensive analytics insights.
• Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets employing various methods and tools, including R and Excel, to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Create and enhance data visualization capabilities to meet evolving organizational needs.
• Ensure adherence to data governance policies and maintain high standards of data quality assurance.
• Conduct data validation, remediation, and troubleshooting to resolve discrepancies and improve data reliability.
• Analyze current processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements to optimize organizational workflows.
• Collaborate with team members to summarize findings, prepare reports, and present insights to stakeholders, including making formal recommendations.
• Lead and organize client meetings, including preparing agendas, documenting discussions, and tracking action items to ensure project milestones are met.
• Assist in documenting project activities, maintaining records, and supporting ongoing process improvement initiatives.
