About the Associate Software Quality Engineer Role

We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented Associate Software Quality Engineers to join our dynamic Software Engineering organization within Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA). This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative environment supporting the development, verification, and maintenance of high-quality software products used in commercial aviation. The role involves partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure adherence to software development processes, regulatory standards, and quality objectives. Based in Everett, Renton, Seattle, or Tukwila, Washington, this position is ideal for individuals passionate about aerospace technology, quality assurance, and continuous process improvement. As part of our team, you will have the autonomy to influence software quality practices and contribute to the safety and reliability of Boeing's aerospace products.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess at least one year of experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, coding, integration, and testing. A bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, data science, physics, chemistry, mathematics, or related fields from an accredited institution is required. Preferred qualifications include experience working within regulated environments such as ISO9001, AS9100, or DO-178C, and familiarity with DevSecOps tools and practices. Strong communication skills, the ability to work effectively in teams, and a proactive attitude are essential. Candidates must meet U.S. export control requirements, specifically being a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.62.

Responsibilities

  • Support large-scale program software quality engineering processes, resources, and infrastructure to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of organizational policies, procedures, and metrics aligned with business objectives.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive information at formal review meetings, ensuring clarity and stakeholder engagement.
  • Review and approve software lifecycle documents, including design documents, test plans, and verification reports.
  • Plan and lead internal and supplier audits of software engineering processes, ensuring adherence to standards and best practices.
  • Participate in configuration management activities, including reviews of deviations and waivers to the software baseline.
  • Coordinate and oversee software testing activities, including test planning, readiness assessments, and verification of test results.
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies and internal teams to develop criteria and procedures for software delivery and compliance.
  • Lead the reconciliation of complex software data products, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Develop and communicate program-specific software quality requirements for flow-down to suppliers.
  • Assess and verify supplier software quality systems and programs, ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory standards.
  • Perform software acceptance and delivery activities, ensuring products meet quality and safety standards.
  • Analyze data to identify trends in non-compliances, initiating corrective and preventive actions at the system level.
  • Identify non-conformances, issue corrective actions, and report findings to management to facilitate continuous improvement.
