About The Role
We are currently hiring for a Risk Data Pipeline Engineer to join our high-performance trading environment. This role is ideal for professionals with a background in hedge funds, high-frequency trading, or trading setups, who are looking to leverage their expertise in a challenging and rewarding setting. The Risk Data Pipeline Engineer will operate at the intersection of risk technology, data engineering, and trading systems, focusing on building and scaling data pipelines that support real-time risk management, profit and loss (P&L) calculations, and trade lifecycle processes.
The successful candidate will work on streaming and normalizing trade data from various platforms such as Bloomberg, Fidessa, and SpiderRock. They will ensure the accuracy of trade booking, facilitate reporting, and maintain regulatory compliance. Additionally, the role involves developing analytics to monitor risk exposure, optimize capital efficiency, and automate trading operations, including reconciliation and expiry management. Collaboration with quant teams and traders is essential to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions that impact trading strategies and risk management practices.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess over four years of experience with Python programming within financial markets. A solid understanding of SQL and database management is essential, along with exposure to asset classes such as equities, foreign exchange (FX), credit, or rates. Candidates should have a strong grasp of post-trade workflows and real-time systems, demonstrating their ability to develop and maintain robust data pipelines that support trading activities. Prior experience working in high-frequency or quantitative trading environments is highly desirable.
Additional qualifications include a good understanding of trading protocols and data standards, with familiarity in areas like FIX protocol being advantageous. Candidates with experience in data engineering tools and languages such as pandas, R, Julia, or KDB+/q will be preferred. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines to process streaming trade data from multiple sources such as Bloomberg, Fidessa, and SpiderRock.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of trade data, facilitating precise trade booking and reporting for risk management and compliance purposes.
- Build analytical models and dashboards to monitor risk exposure, P&L, and capital utilization in real-time.
- Automate operational workflows including trade reconciliation, expiry management, and data validation processes to enhance efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with quantitative analysts, traders, and risk managers to understand data requirements and implement solutions that improve decision-making processes.
- Maintain and optimize existing data infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, and implement best practices for data security and compliance.
- Stay updated with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering, financial markets, and trading systems to continuously improve pipeline performance and reliability.
