Freight Handler

Position Overview

The Freight Handler job at FedEx Freight involves transporting freight across the dock area to and from trailers for loading purposes.

Essential Functions

Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment including forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck. Verify documentation against freight description using electronic or manual systems. Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope, and recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary. Complete required documentation and reports. Assist customers with freight and documentation. Perform hostling duties if required and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age. Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift operations is preferred. Candidates should possess basic math, reading, and communication skills. Physical ability to lift significant weights and perform manual labor is required. Previous dock/warehouse experience is a plus.

Working Conditions

Work is conducted in a dock environment exposed to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, and noise. Hours may vary due to operational need and the role is fast-paced and deadline oriented.

Additional Details
